Teaching Philosophy
My teaching philosophy is grounded in continuous improvement, practical application, and student engagement. I believe effective teaching requires ongoing reflection, adaptation, and a willingness to refine courses based on student feedback and evolving learning needs. Each semester, I carefully review student evaluations and use that input to strengthen course design, instructional strategies, and learning experiences. I emphasize hands-on learning in every course through assignments, case studies, presentations, quizzes, and other applied activities that allow students to actively practice what they are learning. By combining meaningful classroom engagement with relevant technologies and real-world application, I aim to help students build not only subject matter knowledge, but also the critical thinking, communication, research, and problem-solving skills they will carry into their careers.
Outside Interests
I have a deep appreciation for lifelong learning, both within and beyond my academic field. Over the years I have studied English, Portuguese, French, and American Sign Language. Having been raised in Mexico, I value the richness of language, culture, and global perspectives, and I bring that appreciation into both my teaching and my interactions with students. Outside of work, I enjoy exploring culture through travel, art, food, and language. I value the unique perspectives that different cultures bring and believe that curiosity, openness, and appreciation for diversity enrich both personal growth and the learning experience.
