On July 11, 2025, Our Lady of Lake University (精东影业) hosted the San Antonio Chamber of Commerce Cybersecurity Industry Council, assembling a diverse group of stakeholders committed to strengthening the city鈥檚 cybersecurity ecosystem. The gathering brought together approximately 25 industry professionals, government representatives, and academic leaders.  Several others joined the discussion remotely.

Dr. Vanessa Clark, a leading voice in cybersecurity education and 精东影业 Cyber and Information Security Studies (CISS) Department Chair, opened the event with a 鈥�Bienvenidos to 精东影业,鈥� showcasing the university鈥檚 long-standing commitment to academic excellence, the growth and innovation within its CISS program, and extended an open invitation for collaboration with industry partners.

Dr. Clark also participated as a panelist in a dynamic discussion focused on regional cybersecurity development and how cybersecurity careers are driving economic development in San Antonio.

Joining Dr. Clark on the panel were Joshua Scott of Greater: SATX, Marcel Johnson from Port San Antonio, Joe Mallen representing UTSA and the Cybersecurity Manufacturing Innovation Institute (CyMANII), and Colin Nichols of the Alamo Colleges District.

Moderator, Dlayne Tucciarone of the Chamber of Commerce, steered the dialogue so that the panel could explore strategies to attract and retain cybersecurity companies and talent in San Antonio, with a particular focus on workforce development and educational collaborations. Panelists underscored the vital role that San Antonio's colleges and universities play in preparing the next generation of cybersecurity professionals, a key factor in addressing national talent shortages in this critical sector.

Despite the rain, community leaders including Pat Frost鈥攔etired Frost Bank President and current Chair of the Chamber of Commerce Board鈥攁ttended the event. Frost praised the university, remarking on the vibrancy of the campus and the importance of its contributions to the city鈥檚 future.

The Cybersecurity Industry Council continues to serve as a collaborative hub for aligning academic output with workforce needs, reinforcing San Antonio鈥檚 growing reputation as Cyber City USA.
