Admission Requirements and Deadlines
Admissions to the Master of Arts will be determined by the Department of Education in the College of Professional Studies. The department will consider any materials that an applicant presents, but a completed application must include all listed below and will not be considered until a file is complete.
- Completed 精东影业 application for admissions (no application fee)
- Official and sealed transcripts from all regionally accredited institutions where a degree was conferred; student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 (on a 4-point scale) on undergraduate work attempted for the baccalaureate degree and 3.0 for the last 60 semester hours
- Content hours: 12 credit hours in subject area/15 credit hours for Math or Science 7-12 certification

- Copy of Driver鈥檚 License or State issued ID (needs to match the name student wants on their certification)
- Two letters of recommendation from academic or professional sources (submitted online through application site)
- Philosophy of Teaching Statement
- Questionnaire
- Texas Educator - Code of Ethics
- FERPA Consent to Release Educational Records and Information form
- Pre-Admission Content Test (PACT) is required to be taken and passed if applicant has a GPA below 2.75 or has insufficient content hours (12 or 15 credit hrs. in subject/content area)
- Diagnostic Practice Exam - Contact Sharon Chapman at schapman@ollusa.edu, to schedule a date; there is no cost for this exam; strictly for diagnostic purposes
- Interview with faculty
- $10 fee for a criminal background check and $35 TEA technology fee will be required once admitted; if applicant feels there is something in their background that may hinder a field experience, clinical teaching or internship placement, it is recommended that a background check be completed prior to admission
Admission Requirements for US Citizens
- Completed online application
- Official bachelor鈥檚 degree transcript from a regionally accredited university; student must have a minimum cumulative grade point average of 2.75 (on a 4-point scale) on undergraduate work attempted for the baccalaureate degree. (Non-U.S. degrees must be equivalent to a four-year U.S. Bachelor鈥檚 degree. In most cases, three-year degrees are not considered. Visit our International FAQs for more information.)

Valid Out-of-State Certified Teachers
The State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) reviews out-of-state teacher certificates. Contact the SBEC at 888-863-5880.
Admission Requirements for International Applicants
精东影业 defines an international student as anyone who is in a non-immigrant visa status including H1-B visa holders. If you are not a U.S. Citizen, permanent resident, refugee, or asylee, you would be classified as an international student. Students who are not on a visa and are graduating from a Texas high school after three years in residence in Texas (please review Senate Bill 1528) are considered domestic applicants.
The following items, in addition to those listed for U.S. citizens, are required for admission consideration.
- Official transcripts from every institution attended: one in the native language of the country where the university is located and one certified English translation (if transcripts are issued in a language other than English)
- Official (iBT) TOEFL scores with minimum section scores of 24 for speaking, 22 for listening, 22 for reading, and 21 for writing, if taken on or before January 21, 2026, or official (iBT) TOEFL scores with a minimum of 4.5 on the speaking, 5 for listening, 4.5 for reading, and 4.5 for writing, if taken after January 21, 2026. The Texas Education Agency (TEA) does not accept any other English proficiency exams.

F-1 Visa Enrollment Requirements
A master鈥檚 level student under F-1 international student visa status must be enrolled full-time (six semester hours) in the fall and spring terms. A doctoral level student under F-1 international student visa status must be enrolled full-time (nine semester hours) in the fall and spring terms. The only exception to this rule is if you are currently under a Post-Completion OPT period and in good F-1 status. An F-1 student does not have to enroll during the summer if the student is eligible and intends to register for the next term. A new initial F-1 student who recently gained admission into the U.S. with a program start date set to begin in the summer session must enroll full-time for that summer session. Admission Requirements for the Educator Preparation Program (EPP)
In addition to the above requirements, the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC) and Our Lady of the Lake University require the following items:

- Accepted offer of admission and paid nonrefundable $35 fee
